Cancer Home

In 2018 we launched a project which we call the cancer home project which was designed to address the challenges that arise with being diagnosed with cancer. Most Patients need to travel many Kilometres to receive treatment and since patients are treated as out patients except the few that need admission, this means allot of travel is required. With treatments ranging from a minimum of 8 months to 3 years this becomes very costly and the result is patients will abscond treatment, families fall greater into financial challenges, other family members are deprived from basic necessities etc.

Benefits of the Cancer Patient Homes

1. The availability of the cancer patient home(s) will ensure that patients will adhere to treatment as we also found out that many patients will not return for treatment when they go home, because of various reasons
2. The homes will reduce travel cost for patients and other organisation or individuals that may choose to assist to the travel expenses. Those that are very poor find it challenging to travel to the hospital due to lack of funds.
3. A lot of patients will need to travel quite a long distance back home and end up dying because of side effects that they may get due to the long distance travel
4. In most villages the care provided is inadequate support and care, the cancer home will provide nutritional support and hopefully even medical support from the hospital itself
5. Having the home will reduce the risk of cancer patient detention and cancer patients being stranded at the hospital
